Chennai Super Kings won the toss and elected to bat. They had the worst possible start losing
their in-form batsmen Du Plessis for 3 runs.
Hussey who joined CSK for this match could score only 18 runs. Bravo fell for 12 runs. Suresh Raina and M.S.Dhoni played very
well. But tight bowling from Iqbal
Abdulla, Sunil Narine and Jacques Kallis never allowed the CSK batsmen to
dominate and CSK posted a mediocre score of 139/5.
KKR lost Brendon McCullum for 2 runs. But Gambhir and Kallis used their experience
to accumulate runs in the typical slow track at Chennai. Kallis fell after making 26 runs. Gambhir looked to stay till the end. But his fall after making 63 runs created
tension as KKR found it difficult to force the pace. The ball kept low and Dhoni used Ashwin as he
would normally exploit the conditions.
But Debrata Das played well to score 11 off 4 balls and reach the target
with 2 balls remaining. KKR won the
match by 5 wickets. This win took them
to the 2nd Spot in the Points Table with 13 points.
Man of the Match Gautam Gambhir requested that the award may be
given to Debrata Das as he deserved the award for his clinical finish.
