IPL Season 5 - Match 52 - Pune Vs Rajasthan

Match 52   Pune Warriors India Vs Rajasthan Royals
at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium, Pune

Pune Warriors won the toss and elected to bat.  Anustup Majumdar made his debut for Pune Warriors.  Rajasthan Royals smarted a strong team with two potential match winners Shane Watson and Shaun Tait.

Having seen some drastic starts and fall of wickets in the initial overs, Ganguly and Clarke decided to open the innings.  They were successful to some extent as there was no wicket in the initial overs.  But the real problem was that either of them succeeded in scoring beyond a strike rate of 100.  Credit should also go the Royals bowlers who bowled a tight line.  Ganguly was the first one to go for 14 off 18 balls when the total score was 30 in the 6th over.  Clarke departed immediately after that scoring 16 off 18 deliveries.  So the plan didn't work for Pune as they lost two wickets in quick succession and also failed to utilise the Power Play properly.  Uthappa made 13 off 19 balls and disappointed once again.  Majumdar played nicely scoring 30 off 20 deliveries.  Mathews and Manhas also could not contribute much.  But the most surprising thing was the Pune Warriors Powerhouse Steven Smith's sluggish innings of 18* off 22 deliveries.  That sums up the sad story of Pune Warriors who made just 125/6 in the allotted 20 overs.  Shaun Tait was deadly capturing 3/13 from 4 overs.

Rajasthan had a poor start losing Rahane for a duck and Dravid for 14.  When everyone thought the match is going to be tough, Shane Watson played an attacking innings remaining unbeaten on 90 off 51 deliveries.  His big hitting helped the Royals to finish the match in 16.2 overs and the Royals won by 7 wickets.
