Match 53 Kings XI Punjab Vs Deccan Chargers
at Rajeev Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad
Deccan Chargers won the toss and elected to field. Mandeep Singh and Shaun Marsh opened the
innings for KXIP. They gave a solid
start. Shaun Marsh got out after scoring
22 off 20 balls when the total score was 55 in the 7th over. Saini fell for just 2 runs. With some support from Hussey, Azhar Mahmood
and David Miller, Mandeep Singh played a superb innings of 75 off 48 balls. His efforts enabled KXIP score a challenging
score of 170/5.
Deccan Chargers lost Shikhar Dhawan early. Parthiv Patel also could not contribute
much. Opener Daniel Harris scored 30 off
29 balls. But Cameron White and
Sangakkara disappointed getting out cheaply.
It was a real struggle for the Chargers from thereon. They could score only 145/8 losing the match
by 25 runs.
The results of today's matches troubled the Chennai Super Kings
team more than the losing teams because CSK were pushed down to the 5th spot
after the first match and to the 6th spot after the second match.
Resurgent RCB take on the inconsistent Mumbai Indians
tomorrow. If the Mumbai Indians manage
to win that match, then the top 3 teams will stay ahead of the remaining teams
and 4 teams viz. Rajasthan, Punjab, Bangalore and Chennai will fight it out for
the 4th spot. If RCB win tomorrow, then
it will be a big shock for CSK as they will be pushed further down to the 7th
spot.
