DLF IPL Season 5
Match 64
Delhi Daredevils Vs Kings XI Punjab
at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi
In a must win situation, Kings XI Punjab won the toss and
elected to bat. Shaun Marsh got out for
13 runs and Mandeep Singh score just 21 runs.
Reckless batting and mad running resulted in wickets falling at regular
intervals. David Hussey battled it out
alone and remained unbeaten on 40. KXIP
posted a poor score of 136/8. Umesh
Yadav captured 3/21 and Varun Aaron captured 2/19.
Delhi batted equally bad losing Warner, Sehwag and Venugopal Rao
for paltry scores. Out of form batsman
Ross Taylor joined the army with a duck.
Parvinder Awana captured 3 wickets in quick succession and Delhi were
struggling at 4/37 in the 6th over.
Naman Ojha had a useful knock of 34 runs. Veteran Mahela Jayawardene remained unbeaten
on 56 with the company of experienced
Irfan Pathan who remained unbeaten on 19 off 10 deliveries. This pair ensured that there is no further
damage and took Delhi to the victory mark.
Golden opportunity missed by Punjab. Now they have to win both the matches remaining, one against Chennai and one
against Delhi to have any chance of qualifying for the Play-offs.
8

Have qualified for the play-offs irrespective of the result of
the remaining matches. Would do a great favour to CSK by knocking off RCB and
KXIP who are their main competitors for the 4th spot.

Expected to win at least one match and qualify with a minimum
of
20 points.
A Win against KKR would make the latter's life tense.
A win against Rajasthan would keep RR out of contention.

If Mumbai win against KKR, the latter would be left with
"Must Win" situation against weaker team Pune. But "Dada factor" and Pune's
"nothing to loose" situation might derail them as KKR won the first
match against Pune just by 6 runs, that too at home.

Must win match for Chennai to reach 19 points. Even if they are tied at points with

Must win both the games to have any chance of qualifying. Then RCB and RR should win just one match
each to stay below KXIP.
